Hee, I dabble a lot too, but several times the dabbling catches my attention enough that I explore further in the fandom on my own and next thing you know, I'm neck deep. :P
Stargate SG-1? Uh, I watched the movie. So I know a little about Daniel's drama, and a teeny bit about Jack's drama, and a bit of Teal'c's drama. And I've read a bit of fic here and there, so I know that aliens became various gods here on Earth, and they possess human bodies to be corporeal/mobile. Daniel's wife was possessed by a snake. Let's see, what else. Daniel Ascends several times, I think he's the character who won't stay dead? And there's a new team member called Cameron Mitchell who looks like a clone of Daniel. And a character called Hermiod who's Asgard and looks like our stereotypical image of aliens, and he operates a 'beam me up Scotty' machine. Sam is the genius scientist of the team who is also military, and Rodney McKay wants in her pants? Yeah, I have a pretty scattered knowledge (who even knows if what I 'know' is true?) that mostly comes from crossover fic with SGA.
